Like a lot of other people, my smartphone is my agenda, my Rolodex, my camera, my files of administration, my books, my maps, my diary, you name it and it is on my phone. If you think about it… it needs protection! What 3D printed black-dressed bodyguard can I buy for my smartphone!?
Freshfiber is a Dutch company with our favorite Matthijs Kok, as head of design. I love all the cases they sell because of the tactility of the design and the shape of the structure. Like for example, the fish scale texture of this 3D printed case, Piranha.
I like clear graphic and geometric patterns, in 2D and 3D, because of the repetition and the play with light, texture, and structure. The 3D printed hexagon pattern created by designer Donghae Ha for this smartphone (also top image) is really nice.
Another 3D printed smartphone case from Freshfiber is called Membrane. The beauty of this cover is the double layers of structures at the back of the smartphone which come together at the edges of the cover. This can only be done thanks to 3D printing.
Another fantastic example from Ha, a 3D printed case with dots in a closed and open structure.
The last example with a 3D printed play of lines is again from Ha. In a double layer of 3D printed lines, it resembles elastic bands wrapped around the smartphone.
