What is a LEO?
LEO stands for Limited Edition Object. LEOs are digital assets (files) that protect and preserve a digital product or part design by controlling how it is produced on behalf of the enterprise/brand that owns it. The brand's intent is preserved (by specifying material, compatible additive manufacturing technology, scaling allowed, etc) and the brand can specifies how many items (instances) can be 3D printed from a particular LEO file. The LEO Lane service also tracks all LEOs providing a dashboard showing when, where, and how each item was produced.
How does LEO Lane work?
LEO Lane is a SaaS service that makes sure the company's parts/products are produced correctly regardless of where they are produced. The enterprise maintains all its files based on its own internal policies and procedures. The LEO Lane cloud holds no files, it only acts in a supervisory and enforcement capacity. Can LEOs be 3D printed in all types of material?
Yes, any material that can be 3D printed, can be printed with LEO so long as it is allowed by the owner. Some home 3D printers, for example, are not aware of the kind of filament they are printing.
